Live Map

What's flying, right now.

Aircraft worldwide, moving in real time over Apple's satellite map. Tap one to see what it is, where it's going, and how high and fast it's flying.

  • Free, worldwide
  • Data: adsb.lol
  • Weather: Plus
The live map over Europe, white aircraft on satellite imagery and one selected in yellow: a Ryanair 737 from Cologne to Palma.

The aircraft card

Tap a plane. Meet it.

A card slides up with a real photo of that very airframe from Planespotters.net, credited to the photographer. Swipe it up for the rest.

  • Callsign, airline, aircraft type and registration
  • Route and progress, with time flown and time to go
  • Altitude and speed, as it reports them
  • Departure and arrival times, with gatesPlus

Keep up with it

Follow it across the map.

The path it has flown, a camera that stays with it, and whatever is flying near you.

  • A trail shaded by height

The track it has flown since take-off, coloured by altitude: mint near the ground, pink through the middle, violet at cruise.

  • Follow

The camera stays on the aircraft as it moves. Route fits the whole journey on screen instead.

  • Near me

Everything reporting within 80 km of you, nearest first, with its height and distance. Your location stays on your phone.

  • Share what you see

Send the callsign, the route, its height and speed in a message, straight from the card.

Questions

About the live map.

Is the live map free?

Yes. Live aircraft worldwide, the aircraft card with its photo, the trail, Follow, Near me, and the day and night, runway and airport layers are free. Squawk Plus adds the schedule's departure and arrival times and gates on the card, and the layers marked Plus: US weather radar, sectors, airspace and navaids.

Where do the aircraft come from?

From adsb.lol, a community network of volunteers' ADS-B receivers, shared under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) and credited on the map. Coverage follows the receivers, so a quiet area can look empty while aircraft fly over it.

Why does a card say “Route not known yet”?

Aircraft broadcast where they are, not where they're going. Squawk matches a route from the callsign and checks it against the aircraft's own position, and the card says how sure it is. When nothing fits, it says so rather than guess.

Does Near me share my location?

No. Your position stays on your phone: the map moves there and asks the live feed for that area, as it does for any view. If you'd rather not use your location, Near me can measure from the middle of the map instead.

Whose photos are those?

Planespotters.net photographers'. Each photo is of that exact airframe and carries the photographer's name and a link back, as Planespotters asks, and photos come with every plan. Where there's no photo yet, the card shows a drawing of the airline's livery.
